Sparrow’s Promise currently works with 18 foster families and seven support families in our area. Of those wonderful families, Jim and Elle Tarrant have been so encouraging in how they love and care for the children who come into their home.

Three years ago, an announcement in church encouraged them to begin the process of becoming foster parents. Since that time, they have welcomed a number of children into their home and boldly faced the challenges and blessings that came with them. Like most foster families, they said the hardest part is the children that have been in their care leaving and not always knowing what their outcome will be. However, Elle is still encouraged by something that was said to her in training.

“The family that child was born into was the family who God created for them and I really believe that if at all possible, that child should return to their family,” said Elle.

The Tarrants have two adoptive children of their own and Elle has always wanted to be a foster parent. Although the job comes with challenges, Jim and Elle love having children in their home again with all the blessings that come with them.

The staff at Sparrow’s Promise is always here to help families in whatever ways we can. Elle remembers a time when she frantically called a staff member to sit with her in the emergency room and the comfort they provided in a stressful time with a foster child.

“The Tarrants are a great example of the care provided by all of our foster families,” said Brandon Tittle, Executive Director of Sparrow’s Promise.  “The way they love and support the children and their birth families is truly inspiring and has been recognized at the state level. We are so grateful for the high level of care provided by all of our families.”

Jim and Elle are thankful they can still stay in touch with some of the children and families that have been reunited. They attended the birthday party of one of their previous foster children recently and were delighted. This kind of support is the core of our mission at Sparrow’s Promise. It is this kind of care that provides hope to the children and families we work with.
